Casino donates to food pantry

Wild Rose Casino and Hotel Jefferson has announced a $5,000 donation to the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center food pantry.

Established in 1993, the ARC in Jefferson provides no-cost food donations to area families in Greene County. In 2019, the organization moved to its current facility to keep up with the need.

Shirley Haupert, director of the ARC, was delighted of the news. “We greatly appreciate the donation from Wild Rose. The money will help feed many families in need and ease their food insecurities,” said Haupert. “Without great partners like the casino, our mission would be much more challenging.”

The Greene County ARC food pantry provides one week of food, once per month, for about 130 Greene County families.

Travis Dvorak, General Manager Wild Rose Casino and Hotel Jefferson shared the donation was unanimously supported by the casino leadership team. “Shirley Haupert and the ARC team provide a great service to families throughout Greene County. When the idea was brought up, we all enthusiastically agreed to support their mission.”

The Greene County Action Resource Center food pank is located at 1006 N. Vine St, Jefferson, and accepts monetary and non-perishable food donations. In addition to needed supplies, volunteer hours are always encouraged and welcome.
